As if his current Latin American Tour isn’t controversial enough (he angered some Argentines, and broke the law, when he was a no-show for an autograph session that some paid hundreds for), he now has angered Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto by Tweeting that they met before his show. The Mexican President is denying it.
Sure, it seems silly. But it also shows the power that Twitter (and social media in general) has. While many celebrities use social media as a silly outlet for their fans, Bieber seems to take it to a new narcissistic level.
We try to teach folks, especially the youth, that what they post is out there forever. When you hit “send”, are you helping or hurting your reputation? Young Justin seems to be making a joke out of himself, and leaving a trail of angry people in the wake.
When you post for your company’s social media, are you helping or hurting your reputation? How will everyone feel about your business’ image once the read your post? If you have to ask yourself if it’s appropriate, it probably isn’t.
